Junior Naturalist Program

The Friends of Kananaskis Country aims to provide quality educational opportunities for people of all ages.

The Junior Naturalist camps have been a program staple for the Friends of Kananaskis Country for many years. These camps are targeted for 7to 9 and 10 to 12 year olds and provide a high quality unique full week day camp experience.

The interns lead these camps in Kananaskis Country, taking the children to various locations to observe and experience nature; in particular the connection water has to the well-being of the ecosystem. We have experts come in from The Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Parks and Protected areas as well as local experts on wildlife and water to spend time with campers and share their insights and passions. There are lots of interactive games, crafts and time for reflection as well as encouragement of each individual camper’s personal discoveries and questions.
